Das ist #NGC281 - der Pacman Nebel im Sternbild Kassiopeia, benannt wegen seiner Ähnlichkeit zum Videospiel-Charakter. Er befindet sich 9200 Lichtjahre entfernt von uns im Perseus Spiralarm der Milchstraße. In seinem Zentrum befindet sich #IC1590 - ein offenes Cluster junger Sterne, die das umegebende Gas zum leuchten bringen.

Sadr Region and Crescent Nebula
=========================

With an apparent magnitude of 2.2, Sadr is one of the brightest stars in the night sky, forming the intersection of an asterism of five stars, called the northern cross. The huge star in the center of the image is located about 1.800 lightyears from earth.

The Crescent Nebula (NGC 6888) in the top right is a cosmic bubble of gas and dust, created by the stellar wind of the Wolf-Rayet star WR 136. The nebula is located at a distance of about 5.000 lightyears from earth.

Eagle and Omega Nebulae

After months of short and cloudy nights, it finally became clear and I was able to capture one more of my bucket list objects.

This is a widefield image of the Eagle and Omega Nebulae in the constellation Serpens. The Eagle Nebula (M 16) is the bright nebula in the center, while the Omega Nebula (M 17) is the bright nebula on the right side of the image. The Eagle Nebula is located at a distance of about 7.000 light-years from earth, while the Omega Nebula is located at a distance of about 5.500 light-years from earth.

If you zoom close enough to the center of the Eagle Nebula, you will find the famous Pillars of Creation, which are a set of elephant trunks of interstellar gas and dust, about 6.500-7.000 light-years away from earth.

Nach monatelanger Auszeit ergab sich endlich eine klare Nacht und wenngleich von meinen 4h Daten nur etwas über 1h verwertbar waren, konnte ich doch endlich ein weiteres Objekt von meiner Wunschliste aufnehmen - den Adlernebel nebst Omega Nebel und Umgebung.

Im Zentrum des Adlernebels erkennt man die berühmten Säulen der Schöpfung.

Dazu möchte ich euch gern noch zwei weitere Varianten zeigen, weil ich mich nicht wirklich für eine entscheiden kann. Hierbei handelt es sich um die "klassische" RGB Variante, mit und ohne Sterne.

Gerade bei letzterer kann man besonders gut die feinen Strukturen in den Nebeln erkennen.

Das sind die Nordamerika (links) und Pelikan Nebel (rechts) im Sternbild Cygnus. Getrennt werden die beiden Emissionsnebel durch die so genannte "Great Wall", eine gigantische Staubwolke.

Die Aufnahme ist als HOO Variante entwickelt, also als Falschfarbendarstellung, um die Verteilung der verschiedenen Gasgebiete zu zeigen.

The Lion Nebula
============

The Lion Nebula, also known as Sh2-132, is a faint emission nebula in the constellation Cepheus. It is located at a distance of about 10.000 light-years from Earth.

This actually is my second try for this rarely shown target, the first one was pretty much invisible behind those beautiful auroras a few days ago. This time I managed to get a bit more data and I'm quite happy with the result. The Lion Nebula is a very faint object and it's not easy to capture it from my light-polluted backyard. A couple more hours of exposure time might reveal some more detail though.

The North America and Pelican Nebulae

Last night finally was clear again and I had the chance to capture one of my long-time bucket list targets - the north america nebula (left area) and the pelican nebula (top center).
The huge dark area in the center also is called the "great wall" and is a huge dust lane that separates the two nebulae.

With this one, I'd like to show you multiple versions processed from the same dataset. The first one is a narrowband version in HOO palette, the second one is a "natural" RGB color version and the third one is RGB but without the stars.
For this particular target, I'm really torn on which version I like most. Specially the starless one is really interesting because it shows so much detail in the nebula core.

The Heart and Soul Nebulae
=====================

Located approximately 6000 light years away from Earth, these two nebulae form a vast star-forming complex, spanning around 300 light years in diameter. As part of the Perseus arm of the Milky Way galaxy, they are rich in interstellar gas and dust, providing a fertile ground for star formation.

The image is a HOO composition, mapping emissions of hydrogen alpha gas to the red channel, while oxygen III emissions are mapped to the green and blue channels. This results in a colorful representation of the nebulae's different emissions.

At the center of the Heart Nebula (IC 1805), an open cluster of young stars, known as Melotte 15, is located. These stars, some of them up to 50 times more massive than our sun, are ionizing the surrounding gas, causing it to glow.

The nebulae's proximity to Earth and their richness in star-forming material make them an exciting target for astronomers studying the processes of star birth and evolution.

Elephant's Trunk Nebula

The Elephant's Trunk Nebula is a concentration of interstellar gas and dust within the much larger ionized gas region IC 1396 located in the constellation Cepheus about 2,400 light years away from Earth.

I captured this object one time already, but didn't get too much exposure time. This time however, I was able to get much more detail.

The Great Orion Nebula
