Missed out on a run yesterday so made it up with a double album run today. Started off with the joyful Stakka Bo - Supermarket, lyrics are still apt today as it was back in '93. This helped me through the forest and the sandy tracks to the beach. Where Rage Against the Machine as always kicked butt, serious air drums and screaming along to Killing in the name, Bombtrack and Bullet in the Head etc was only heard by the wind and the waves as I did nearly 3.5km all alone on the beach.

Beautiful sunny morning. Had a few muscular twinges and aches going out. They are all still there, but nothing got much worse on the run.
24 miles done, so my longest run before the marathon (and ever!) It's still 4 weeks out, so I'll still keep the miles up, but spread them out over the week.
Pleased I've got this far, I always thought these distances were beyond me.

Easy trailrun in again beautiful weather. #ijsselloop is in one week so taper has begun 😁.
I found my old chest strap hart rate monitor and tried out today. I got some pretty strange readings, from running through the grass at 6:15 pace with a heart rate dropping below 100 to running at ease with a heart rate of 192 (both of wich are impressive at my age 😂). Maybe it's time for a new one.

Today I finished my last of 15 weeks of training for the in . I'm thankful that I had no issues with my knee the whole time. This year, I won't aim for a new personal best (1:33:45), even though both & predict almost the same finish time as last year.
I think anything under 1:39:59 is fine. The big goal this year is the in — and for that, I still have many limits to push

A relaxed 15km trail run with 500m EG very close to where I live. Even though I've run here many times, every season has its own special magic 🌞 There's no doubt that spring has finally arrived here in the mountains as well!

Tomorrow till Friday I'm off to #London for #QConLondon, which I'm really looking forward to. Let's see how much running I get to do here 😎

My fueling strategy for #MilanoMarathon looks like this:

Yesterday and today a drink mix.

Tomorrow: a drink mix and a bar.

Sunday: drink mix and two or three bars for breakfast.
Just before the start a gel and during the race a gel every five kilometers. From km 25 alternated with a caffeine gel.

If anyone has experience with the marathon and has a better alternative, I'd love to hear about it.

On March 31, I ran the Grand Canyon R2R2R with a coworker.

We started at the South Kaibab trailhead at ~6:30 AM, made our way north to the Colorado River, crossed the bridge to Phantom Ranch, headed north through Cottonwood towards Manzanita, then made the eastward turn towards North Kaibab. Once we reached the north rim, we retraced our route back to the south rim, finishing ~9:00 PM.

44 miles, 12,000 feet elevation gain, 14.5 hours.
