Today is my late boy’s bday. I know he would not have lived to be 18 (today). He was 13 but if it hadn’t been for the mass in his stomach, he would have easily made it to 15–I just know it. His final days were hard because he had been put on medication that made him act young again. The cognitive dissonance of his new energy to the reality of his situation was so hard to accept. 13 years was not enough; I wish pets survived our whole lifetime. My goodest boy, you will forever have my heart. Today I raise a glass to you, to commemorate everything you meant to me and remember the unconditional love you gave me. ❤️

I guess it's time for an #introduction ... I don't think I've ever written one on Mastodon before 😅

Hello world! I've created this account to chat and blog about video games. I only play games that run on Linux, which is why I ended up mostly buying stuff on the steam platform... even though I'm very conscious about data privacy issues and other problematic aspects.

My pronouns are she/her and I'm mostly here to connect with other FLINTA (or allies) about gaming. I'm not a pro at all, I started about 3 years ago and have discovered the survival genre for myself, especially combined with exploration. But I do enjoy other games as well.

Some of my favourites goto-cozy-games are #subnautica (can't wait for #subnautica2 !), #SubnauticaBelowZero , #raft, #valheim, currently also #Satisfactory and #PlanetCrafter (I'm an engineer IRL, sorry! 🙈)

Narrowboats don't have oars. They have poles.

The proverbial barge pole, or ten-foot pole, isn't proverbial. Most narrowboats have a ten-foot pole about 3 inches or 8 cm in diameter.

These reed rafts aren't solid. Poke them using the end of a barge pole, and it pokes right through. Instead, you persistently push the raft aside using a length of the pole. It's hard. Even small reed rafts seem to weigh a tonne; the roots loosely hold a lot of water.
