“In this study, [they] model spatiotemporal heterogeneity and incorporate it into optimizing the location of substations. The optimized substation placement ensures electrical service coverage for over 99% of the area during peak power usage seasons, compared to the current coverage of 72%...”

ProxMox Load Balancer
A new version is released.
If you deal with ProxMox in any form you'd be wise to see what this powerful tool can do for you. When you realize it is one of the tools you've been missing in managing your different VMS in ProxMox, rest assured you will be very glad you now know of its existence.
Without going into too much details because, I want you to read the documentation yourself, you know that when you need to move a VM from One ProxMox controlled server to another one, there are procedures you need to follow
You also know that when you need to balance the load on your different servers, by which I mean your Hardware Servers, you also know that from time to time, you literally need to move a number of VMS(!) from one server to another, in your server cluster or Server clusters, plural. You know how much time that can take.
Now go read your docs, I've inspired you

The #BoxyBSD project is taking a pause from provisioning completely free #vps instances / #vserver. For further questions, reach out to @gyptazy or in our Matrix chat.
After publishing the new self-service portal and making it easier to use and get a free VPS instance, we got a lot more new users who requested an instance than usual. We’re not out of resources but we want to provide a great and reliable service and have a buffer for upcoming things.
We’re already restocking the resources and adding new nodes to the project but temporary stop provisioning new instances. In the meantime, we will provide new services that will make the overall experience for users much better and easier.
We already started this with the new #NAT64 gateways and the new free #loadbalancing service that allows you to serve your website also on #IPv4, even your box is #IPv6 only.
We’re addicted to the #BSD community and hope to provide your quickly more #FreeBSD, #NetBSD, #OpenBSD, #DragonflyBSD and all the other bsd based systems again. In the meantime - have fun and #RUNBSD
We just added a free #loadbalancing service to #BoxyBSD!
This new feature got added by @gyptazy in addition to the newly introduced #NAT64 gateways to make your life easier and is currently tested with a few users! This provides you the ability to make your website also reachable by #IPv4 even your box is only running on #IPv6. This feature can be managed from your self-service portal and simply requires you to add a DNS name that should be balanced and to point the DNS A record to a given IPv4.
Making the legacy internet life easier, we hope for a higher #BSD adaption where people might be more motivated to try #FreeBSD, #NetBSD, #OpenBSD or even #opensolaris with #illumos.
Do you already know #ProxLB for #Proxmox clusters?
ProxLB is fully #opensource and brings some additional features into Proxmox that you might be missing after migrating from #Broadcom #VMware just like #DRS or #StorageDRS. This is where ProxLB jumps in and offers #loadbalancing features - free and opensource under the #GPLv3. ProxLB is packaged, can be installed from a .deb file, repository or run as an orchestrator in a container and fully utilizes the Proxmox API without any ssh access.

Learn how #Netflix has shifted from geo-based DNS load-balancing to latency-based approach, relying on real-user measurements and building a global data model of Netflix traffic to reduce costs while reducing latency and outage risks.

@shortridge unfortunately not quite a "solid paper", but a nice visualization and simulation (see "Playground" at the very end) of different methods which I recently found and made me rethink quite a few things about a setup I was currently working on:

Large #Battery installed at #offshore #wind farm for #LoadBalancing and #FrequencyStabilisation:
"The site is located adjacent to National Grid’s Creyke Beck substation, the same connection point proposed for phases A and B of the world’s largest #offshore #wind farm, Dogger Bank.
The system is designed to provide critical #balancing services to the electricity grid network."
