OK, so something new for the #ai #bot nonsense #opensource projects have been facing

I have a trap set up on the #inkscape website and it does a fair job of capturing ip addresses from bots that pretend to be people. But somehow manage to follow an invisible, off the page, aria disabled, link

But it's starting catching mobile phones. I've checked, the link isn't visible on iphone and android either. But now I have hundreds of thousands of phones bot scanning the website.

wtf?

Do you feel less or more excited about games that have been made using AI assistants? Whether that be assets, writing or coding assistance.

Our next CCCM seminar in the “The Cognitive Science of Generative AI” series:

Tom Griffiths,
Henry R. Luce Professor of Information Technology, Consciousness, and Culture, Princeton.
Tuesday April 29, 16:00 BST.

Title: „Using cognitive science to explore the symbolic limits of large language models“

Abstract: Large language models are an impressive demonstration of how training a neural network on symbolic data can result in what looks like symbolic behavior. However, the limits of this symbolic behavior reveal some of the ways in which the underlying model and training regime can have unexpected consequences. I will highlight four such cases: ambiguous representations of numbers, influence of prior distributions on solutions to deterministic problems (“embers of autoregression”), paradoxical effects of chain-of-thought prompting, and implicit associations revealed through behavioral prompts. Each case makes use of specific tools from cognitive science — rational analysis, similarity judgments, and experimental methods designed to evaluate the impact of verbal thinking on behavior and reveal implicit biases.

My new favourate game: Asking Google to define nonsensical phrases

Asking Google to define nonsensical phrases may be my new favourite game.

It shows that Google may be too pink for red salads (or something).

Here are some of the inventive definitions for my most recently invented common phrases that Google gave me with all the confidence of someone who thinks they know what they are talking about.

Phrases that are now a thing, apparently:

  • Standing above the salt
  • Too blue to see green
  • Too pink for red salads
  • Save it once to save it twice
  • Under the clock to avoid the dust
  • Under the foot to avoid the mongoose
  • More haste, less ginger
