Today:
- we had glorious autumn weather, cold at night but still and sunny all day
- I visited a friend who lives in care after a severe stroke. He has a special new chair and is able to be out of bed for the first time in ages. He really enjoyed looking at the paintings in the lounge.
- there were tomatoes and zucchini from the garden for dinner
Today:
- I put on my wet weather gear and walked anyway
- my hubby made ANZAC biscuits for the first time and they were yummy
- I made a new recipe for dinner which was very nice, and there are now two meals of the leftovers in the freezer
Today:
- I managed to do most of my walk in the dry
- there were leftovers for an easy but delicious dinner
- it’s clean sheets day
I want a donut. To get a donut I must stand up, get dressed (including putting on a bra) and drive to either the donut shop or the grocery store.
Now the question is - how much do I really want a donut? 
Today:
- I had a productive morning in the kitchen, making bread, scones, muffins and soup
- I visited my nephews in their new house and it’s great. Definitely a handyman’s dream but they’ve already started fixing things!
- Mum came for dinner and we watched Bake Off
Today:
- I put on my wet weather gear and had an invigorating walk in the wind and rain
- I went to the annual Good Friday family gathering at my sister’s place for homemade hot cross buns
- my niece’s husband gave me 2 heads of garlic from his garden for me to plant and keep the line going while they are overseas. I bought the original bulbs about 20 years ago and shared some with him a few years back!
Today:
- I wrapped up warmly and spent a therapeutic hour pulling the worst weeds out of the worst bit of the garden
- I made a good curry out of vegetables that needed using quickly
- I listened to the new Marlon Williams album again several times - love it. This duet with Lorde is especially beautiful 
Today:
- on my wander through the woodland gardens I saw children on a gnome hunt, a regular school holiday activity there. So much joy and excitement!
- in Mum’s garden I saw from closeup a korimako (bellbird) feeding on bottle brush flowers. It then sang its beautiful song.
- I started reading a new book, which seems promising, after finishing a very good one last night (Fair Rosaline by Natasha Solomons, highly recommend).
Today:
- the big change in the weather came a little earlier than I expected, meaning a very brisk walk home on my daily amble! I made it back before the rain got very heavy and rescued the washing from the line, still about 3/4 dry.
- I did some knitting for the first time in a couple of weeks
- it’s clean sheets day
Today:
- was another lovely sunny day, followed by a gorgeous sunset and now a full moon
- I started some weeding in the most neglected part of the garden
- since I have lots of parsley, plus lemons a friend grew, I made pesto and put it in the freezer for future easy pasta + pesto meals
Some simple pleasures and small joys...
Pawsies (especially toe beans) Planting something in the garden (fingers in the soil, hopes for thriving, blackbirds standing by to mess up the soil) The colours and light shifting as day turns to evening Sitting down with a cuppa (snacks optional, but recommended!) Fluffing up the pillows before getting into bed
Today:
- I walked to the farm up the hill and got fresh eggs
- I took a shortcut through the school and admired the flourishing veg garden there, I love that children are learning about this
- Mum came for dinner and we watched Bake Off. We’ve got behind with it so still have 2 episodes to enjoy!
Today:
- was another beautiful sunny autumn day
- I had a big baking session, making biscuits (to give my nephews, who are moving tomorrow into a house they’ve bought together), bread (a loaf and rolls) and breakfast bars
- I’ve enjoyed tonight’s Jukebox Friday Night, thanks everyone! 
One of the #SimplePleasures of being on night crew is enjoying a coffee at hours my brain thinks are absolutely unreasonable.
*lifts mug and toasts the rest of the watch*
Today:
- was one of those lovely Ōtepoti autumn days, with hardly any wind, sunshine all day, cool overnight and warm during the day
- I turned all the tomatoes in the freezer into passata (see earlier post)
- I picked the rest of the Chilean guava berries, it’s been a good crop
Today:
- I weeded baby tōtara and other trees at the native plant nursery volunteer session
- the sweet peas are still going and I picked a fresh bunch
- I used all my letters on consecutive turns in Scrabble 
In case you’re wondering, the words were novellae and brandies. Still not sure I can win the game though 
Today:
- I got my hair cut and it’s no longer falling in my eyes all the time
- I had a nice catch up with a friend while I was in town
- we chose to meet at the library because it’s conveniently located, comfortable and warm (it’s been cold and wet here today). I also got some books out, including a couple of intriguing ones that were on display. Libraries and librarians are the best!
Today:
- for the first time in 10 days I didn’t need to take painkillers! 
My sinus infection/headache is nearly gone I think, also feeling less exhausted.
- I picked tomatoes and Chilean guava berries from the garden
- it’s clean sheets day
