Hey fedi, I want to move off Google services for email at some point soon but with Proton Mail and/or their CEO’s statement earlier this year I’m skeptical about using their platform.
What are the best competitors atm? And what are their advantages and disadvantages?

@i0null I deleted my LinkedIn a few weeks ago...unsolicited emails and calls from security product vendors have dried up. Its never gotten me a job. Its never been a great way to contact me. Hm, there are reasons when Google has services on 3rd Party you use or captcha, or searches with Google underlayed,
BUT none of the Hamed Google services I've ever used in my life or are mandatory for and Android user.
For most honoured exilers it consumes time to search wikipedia what this services stand for.
Posteo for mail
Nextcloud or filen.io for drive
Invidious for YouTube or directly move to peertube
Ecosia or qwant for Google search

Relearning IMAP conventions and unlearning Gmail, things I really would like to keep:
- multiple From identities with their own outgoing servers in one inbox
- labels instead of folders (because that allows categorizing same email many times)
Haven't yet found a service which does either.

Eigentlich wollte ich nur #GrapheneOS auf dem neuen Telefon nutzen, um #unplugtrump #degoogle abzuschließen.
Mittlerweile wurschtel ich mich seit Wochen durch Traefik, Crowdsec und Co. um meine ganze Serverstruktur umzuwerfen, da sie an Ihre Grenzen kommt mit den ganzen Services, die man so selbst hostet. Nun ja, viel gelernt und nächste Woche wird migriert. Bin gespannt....
