I love this lil bird. Likely an offspring of #TristanSparrow who used to come here and hang around me for nuts n seeds every day.

A little brown bird standing on the white railing of the kitchen door step, while his body faces away, he’s turned his neck to left to look back to eye this way. His wings are beautiful streaks of brown, dark brown and cream. Looks as strong as a miniature hawk. The evergreen tree across my flowerbed is the backdrop.

Here he is. #TristanSparrow taking a peanut on the railing while I’m standing right next to it. #birb

Tristan the brave sparrow on the white railing of the kitchen door landing, ready to pounce on a peanut. He’s got his legs on a wide stance, and the under pants resemble those of the hawks—a little. The background is the weathered wooden fence. Some green leaves of lemon tree on the left and elm tree on the right frame the top of the vertical photo.

The same scene and the sparrow, but now he’s taking off with his wings spread in high speed and therefore they’re in a blur. His tail feathers are making a Japanese handheld-fan shape. Mostly his white underside is showing. He’s flying toward right.

Vertical closeup of a male house sparrow in my lemon tree, stretching up his body to see me in the kitchen through the storm door window. Oh, by the way, every year, I painstakingly remove most of the thorns from my seed-grown 18-year-old lemon tree for wildlife safety.

The same scene with the same sparrow, but now he’s ducking under the leaf to see me. His whole face is now in view. He wants some peanuts. This little one comes to the railing to get a peanut.

#MrCardinal and #TristanSparrow at the #birdbath

The tufted red bird with the black square marking around his orange beaks—the male cardinal—is perched by the terracotta colored large plant tray filled with clean water, facing slightly to the right. On the other corner in the foreground of the photo, the male sparrow is perched on the wire metal grid cube that’s elevating the water tray off the ground, and he has his back to us and facing slightly to left. The afternoon sun lights up the birdbath scene.

The background is weathered wooden fence and a pile of brown and pruned tree branches.

The same birdbath scene. But all of a sudden, the cardinal took to the air, flapping his red wings fast and flying toward us. There’s a motion blur on his fanned-open wings, which look blurry but pretty, lit in the sun. The sparrow looks like he’s ducking slightly, also blurry.

See, these two sparrows are always supervising bigger birds

Plumpy bluejay facing right is perched on the terracotta colored plastic plant tray filled with clean water, and just took a sip of water and looking up to swallow. And left-facing Jenny sparrow is on the opposite side of the rim in the front, doing the same. Tristan sparrow is right next to Jenny in the front right corner, perched on the wire metal grid that’s elevating the birdbath.

Plumpy and Jenny look like they’re singing an operetta together at the top of their lungs. Hence, the lyric of “The Golden Boy” sung by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé is quoted in the toot.

The background is the weathered wood fence and a pile of pruned and fallen tree branches. They’re in the afternoon sun.

The robin and the sparrows at the #birdbath — these two little birds are in charge, as it’s their year-round territory. The robins just returned in January.

Three birds at the birdbath which is on the wire metal grid cube in the back of my flowerbed next to the wood fence.
Two in the front are house sparrows, and smaller than the other—the American robin.
They look as if they are having a casual chat at the water hole in the afternoon sun. The tall honeylocust tree casts a shadow on the fence, but it’s relatively sunny without any leaves in the winter.

The birdbath is actually a terracotta colored plastic plant tray holding the water. It matches the color of the robin’s chest. The metal grid cube is black, which matches the robin’s head. The sparrows are in brown and tan.
