The Orbital Index Issue № 314:
Proposed budget cuts to NASA and NOAA could cripple US scientific research, risking the closure of Goddard Space Flight Center. Recent discoveries include insights on the Oort cloud and Mars's ice cap. Notable updates: NASA's Lucy mission flyby, Bangladesh joins Artemis, and Blue Origin's all-female crew mission.
"What Keeps Me Standing"
A lone, lifeless tree standing on a hill silhouetted against a fading sky. Surrounded by the dark heavy clouds, it still stretches upwards. Towards a dream perhaps. Or a purpose. Something just out of sight, but just enough to hold on.

I find great peace, contemplation, and thought at the ocean, which is one reason I enjoy being there, and painting it, so much. May the artwork take you, as well, to a place of peace, contemplation, and thought.

Some 117 billion humans have gazed at the moon, yet only 24 people – all American men – have seen it up close. During the Covid pandemic, the artist discovered the chance to apply for the ultimate art residency: dearMoon.
Here are two maps of sites of interest from the last map. The first is the southernmost point of the traverse (and the south end of the triple traverse). The second is the cross-shaped 'special magnetic experiment' area. In the second map it's not necessarily easy to work out the exact path from the complex tracks, though I will be looking again at modern Russian mapping to clarify some details.

Yes, our first nights on the Moon were spent in hammocks: that's really how the Apollo astronauts slept! They have two of the hammocks in storage at the Smithsonian as I speak:
