De universiteit ontslaat 40 medewerkers, de afdeling aardwetenschappen wordt opgeheven.

TU Delft will join the relay strike on 24 April!
We are protesting the announced budget cuts of 1.2 billion euros on higher education in the Netherlands. This means that we have to cut about 10-20% of our budget.

Tomorrow, the House of Representatives of the Netherlands will vote on the proposed budget, which includes dramatic budget cuts to higher education.
Today is the last opportunity for us to make our voices heard before tomorrow's vote. There will be protests throughout the country.
At Delft University of Technology, we will gather at 1pm in front of the Aula for a walk-out.

On Monday morning, our minister of education, Eppo Bruins, announced that despite the budget cuts, "we can still do a lot", and that the cabinet is investing 17.6 million euro in biotechnology.
I am also excited about the projects that will get funded by that money, but obviously 17.6 euros is nothing compared to 1 billion.

To put the budget cuts in perspective: it's a billion euros *per year*. The amount is the equivalent of closing an entire university. Combined with inflation and higher energy prices, universities are seeing a cut in their budgets of up to 10%.
