Listening to this while making a sandwich, I couldn’t help starting to dance. It’s Tom Moore and Archie Moss’s “Pop One”.
Which means that for the first time in aages it is #TuneswapTuesday - has anyone else got a #FolkTune they’d like to share?

Today’s exciting post - search for Lucy & Hazel on Bandcamp to hear it for yourself
This is the correct tune to share this and every #TuneswapTuesday - John Spiers playing The Mallard
I've not really played in about a week as my shoulder hasn't been right after some enthusiastic one-row playing... so here's someone a bit more competent playing one without hurting themselves!
Scan Tester's no.1 played by Peter Rogan - and doesn't a 4 stop in G sound glorious?!
Given mention of La Bottine Souriante in this month’s Chatterbox, I’ve finally been getting around to learning Le Reel Des Soucoupes Volantes on the one-row… here they are playing it as my share for the first #TuneswapTuesday of 2025
I listened to the extended prerelease of this, which was awesome- find out things you never knew or didn’t realise about @squeezyjohn’s background, outlook and career, and some of the economics of the music scene. Assuming all that made the public cut!
I think I’ve mostly learned “Le Reel Des Soucoupes Volantes” on the box (as in knowing how to, not playing it in front of people with any real competence!) - not bad for “starting to look after I logged off work this afternoon”!
It doesn’t go badly on the two or three row, but I really like the simplicity of going for it on the one row - though you lose the left hand bass/chords matching “properly”…
How do I decide which melodeon to take to Morris practice? Well, tonight it is going to be the one with the most waterproof carrying case. This factor is predicted to become most important more often as the frequency of extreme weather increase due to climate change.
Finally got around to listening to Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne’s new album, “Play Up The Music” and it is fantastic. Y’all should check it out:

Spot of insomnia? Oh well, get on with retaping the bellows for my #HA114 #1Row4Stop while listening to a certain podcast…
Good old Lester Bailey playing Albert Farmer’s Bonfire Tune on a one row four stop - classic for #TuneswapTuesday
I do love the sound and simplicity of the HA114 - I should play mine more. Not having to make decisions about cross rowing or what chords to play is a bonus!
A pertinent folk tune for the day written and performed by @squeezyjohn - if I had a box with me I’d be playing it!
@NorthCrayMal
In that case I’ll join in with the first recording I see of Lemmy Brazil’s No.1 in a rather different style on #Melodeon as my selection for #TuneswapTuesday
One of the tutors on the #Halsway weekend was Lucy Huzzard, who is not just a great teacher and player but an engaging and passionate activist. She’s trying to get her musical career going, and is enough people like this YouTube video for her to win this climate song competition is she’ll get some cash that’ll help get her started.
Take a look and give it a like!
Trek to Halsway D/G melodeon weekend: begun.

@luke @AccordionBruce Brings up one of two different menus each time you click on it?
Shoutout to @GothAndy for generously supporting me by purchasing my track, Holy Grail! Thank you so much!
Andy is a multi-instrumentalist making hypnotic alternative music with a goth tinge reminiscent of #TheCure. While not on Bandcamp yet, you can check out his stuff on YouTube and Soundcloud. Fingers crossed that Bandcamp continues to be awesome so Andy can get his music released on there, too!
@camilobotero
You could ask about a #DiatonicAccordion like that at:
http://forum.melodeon.net
You might want photos that show all the buttons on both sides, which make it easier to see the type you’ve got
It’s nearly impossible to judge value or condition of an #Accordion without the instrument in hand, so I wouldn’t recommend asking that
