Senator Chris Van Hollen was able to meet with Kilmer Abrego Garcia Thursday night at the El Salvador concentration camp/prison. Thank goodness he is alive. He should be home in the U.S. along with all those kidnapped and sent abroad without due process.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) has confirmed that he met today with #WrongfullyDeported man #KilmarAbregoGarcia in #ElSalvador. The two shared a meal, and the Senator was able to relay messages to and from Abrego Garcia's wife.
Van Hollen had earlier announced he was heading to El Salvador to meet with Abrego Garcia. Initially, the Senator attempted to visit Abrego Garcia in the prison, but was turned away. Thursday afternoon, he posted photos of himself and Mr. #AbregoGarcia with the text:
"I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight, I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return."

I can't be the only person who had no idea that #MattGaetz created an official "El Salvador Caucus" in the U.S. Congress last year and it just so happens to be full of most of that body's biggest cranks (#LaurenBoebert, #MikeLee, #NancyMace, #TimBurchett) and most corrupt reps (#AndyOgles, who made some “interesting” campaign finance moves at the crypto industry’s favorite bank that he and George Santos chose to hold their campaign money).
Feels like kind of a lot of congressional time spent nurturing America's relationship with a country whose GDP rivals that of Des Moines, Iowa.

The #Trump admin has been tripling down on accusing the man they illegally deported of being a dangerous gang member. DHS even circulated a mug shot of him from 2019 when he was arrested for wearing a Chicago Bulls cap (because apparently that could be a gang member sign 
). Mr. Garcia was not charged with any crime.
