Mike PfeiferHey guitar players, so the way I have been recording is either direct out from my pedal board or line out / fx send from amp to audio interface in mono. Then a cabsim or IR plugin in the DAW (pro tools). I really love playing through my pedals and amps, but micing a cab is not possible. It seems to be working for me, but wondering if anyone has other ideas for my setup. Or just to hear other thoughts on it. We have to show planning docs so they know we know what we're doing (ha lolsob) and won't damage their gear. Venya (he/him/dude) 🇺🇦I finished my class assignments early so I mucked about with <a href="https://musicians.today/tags/ProTools" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ProTools</a> and the ridiculously huge set of expensive plugins we have at our disposal at the classroom and did a ridiculously self-indulgent mix of "Complicated Signal Path," one of the first musical things I ever made and shared. It was sort of <a href="https://musicians.today/tags/LoFi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#LoFi</a> because I didn't know how to be not-minimalist and employs <a href="https://musicians.today/tags/BassGuitar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#BassGuitar</a> even for the rhythm guitar part because that's all I owned.This new mix is kinda fun.

Scott McDowellWow! I was not expecting this new design for Pro Tools “Import Session Data…” !! First reaction: I love it!!I've never built up a great “mix template”, I just reinvent the wheel for each song. Even my “Track Presets” library is pretty small. I use a chaotic technique I call “grab stuff from recent mixes and try to apply it to this one”. So, I use this import panel a ton! That he was the uncle of my great great grandmother.The evidence of seeing some of my matches having consistently less shared dna with others because their "share" would have been up and over via the man's ancestors, not from the man himself. Being able to do this without lengthy correspondence with matches is wonderful.
