Maritimes Museum Hamburg<p>Today, September the 28th 2023, we celebrate the <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/WorldMaritimeDay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WorldMaritimeDay</span></a> as called by the IMO (International <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/maritime" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>maritime</span></a> Organization). The motto is “MARPOL at 50 – Our Commitment Goes On” to commemorate 50 years of one greatest achievements of the IMO as part of the United Nations: the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (short <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/marpol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>marpol</span></a> ) signed in 1973. MARPOL has been ratified by flag states covering over 99% of the <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/shipping" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>shipping</span></a> tonnage worldwide.</p>
