An emotional rollercoaster:
Out riding yesterday and on the way home my power meter started reading 0.
"That's odd," I thought, "I didn't change the battery very long ago."
I went to change the battery and lo, the battery cover had fallen off and disappeared, together with the battery.
This was a significant setback as the manufacturer went out of business and spares are hard to come by.
On the bright side I have just bought a 3D printer, so maybe if I can find a model on the interweb then ... Yes!
So I will be spending part of today printing a new battery cover door, as the final step in commissioning the printer. Cost about 5p. (Ignoring the printer cost )
Now the battery cover also has an O-ring seal behind it. The internet yielded the dimensions and I found some on the interweb for about £5 ... plus £5 p&p. Or I could spend £35 and get free postage.
I would really appreciate your recommendations for wet-cold weather road overshoes - based on actual experience please! #cycling #BikeToot #velophant
Looking north down Kirkstone Pass, last climb of the day and an hour or so of daylight left. Shorter than I'd thought at 3.6km but with a good 1.5km at 10-20% right at the top. At this point my max heart rate was mid zone 3 but I needed to generate Z4-5 power, so I had a moment about 900m short of the top to let everything come back to normal. #cycling #LakeDistrict #BikeToot #velophant
Everything was in spate after the recent rain. Before I'd even got to Wrynose I had to wade a flooded bit of road that otherwise would have washed the grease out of the axle bearings. So I had sopping socks and shoes from km 10. This is the waterfall at Newlands Hause with huge amounts of rainwater pouring off Hindscarth. #cycling #LakeDistrict #BikeToot #velophant
This is looking down to Buttermere from Newlands Hause. A sod of a climb on the "conventional" Fred Whitton, coming after Honister Pass and the feed stop (i.e. opportunity to get cold and eat too much) at YHA Buttermere. Everything was in spate including the entire road which made descending on rim brakes challenging for the fingers and shoulder muscles. #cycling #LakeDistrict #BikeToot #velophant

A ten hour weather window opened and I took it. Drizzle and strong winds over Wrynose & Honister but sunny out west, progressively cloudier until I arrived home as it started to spit. Perfect.
