Seth GalitzerI grew up loving Heinlein. I read all his "juvenile" books as a preteen, and all the Lazarus Long books as a young adult, through my 20s & 30s. I own copies of most of his works. You could say I'm a fan. On a recent trip to my local library, I came upon a recently published work, entitled "The Pursuit of the Pankera". They told me things at a glance that I have to either remote in or physically touch them to get now. You can’t even listen to a computer anymore to see if the HDD is being accessed, because it’s all solid state now. An Apple, can we please have the little strip of LEDs that told you how much charge you had in your battery back? I used to love things like older Thinkpads because they had LEDs for everything!

But for some reason the Gulf of Aden is supposed to be free and open waters, and any charge is "illegal". Seems the whole problem can be solved by letting Djibouti, Yemen, and Eritrea charge for passage like other countries. Granted, I don't know all the information since Western Media has a bias.

Still Mad About CD PricesBeen thinking about this graphic for quite a while. A couple of years, I think. It's been going around social media for a while. At one point I hunted down its origin, and... anyway, I'm going to basically dump all my issues with this right here. Right up front: some people will think I'm obviously racist for criticizing something intended to be antiracist. And I do think the creator (and definitely the people sharing this around) have their hearts in the right place. Unfortunately (maybe just for me), that's not how science works, and I think this graphic was created in a way that essentially asks for the legitimacy of science despite having no scientific foundation.
