It's a natural fit. It makes very little sense to encrypt on my side something that was not encrypted originally.This need comes mostly from the irrational fear of having my stuff laying unencrypted in someone else’s server with one single point of failure to access most of my personal information. That information is still available, probably much less secured, in the sender’s server/provider, but at least it’s only one part of all my data.I have considered hosting my own mail server (at home, because I would have the same problem with a VPS), but it’s hell: emails would always end up in the spam folder.It would be a cool and insightful idea to create a <a href="https://pan.rent/tags/Thunderbird" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Thunderbird</a> extension that encrypts emails at rest… I don’t have the technical skills, but, if somebody does, hit me up!
