I just found out about #TextureTuesday ... now that's a hashtag I can get behind! Here's the surface of the Jemez river back in January.

The surface of a frozen river. Instead of smooth ice, it has frozen into a collection of lots of little crystals, each maybe an inch or two in size.

A bud on a California buckeye tree starting to open. It looks like it has tightly packed young leaves inside, as well as little round buds that I guess will become flowers. All the inner parts that are coming out are bright green. The exterior of the bud is cream with pink edges

#TextureTuesday at the beach.

Wet beach sand, sculpted by water into a chaotic curvy landscape of little berms and domes and valleys, with lots of color variation in the sand. Dark gray, almost blue-ish tones, light gray with greenish tints, lighter whitish parts reflecting sparkling light and even a pink hue in parts. One strip that’s lit up and reflecting a lot of light looks like there might be a little active water moving over the surface. There are a few things buried under the sand that give it more of a sharp shape in parts, maybe driftwood or shells.

All in all it looks like an aerial shot of a strange landscape.

To Be as Busy as a Bee / L'Ape Laboriosa Lungo il Giorno Non Riposa

This little cutie is an Apis Mellifera Ligustica or Italian Honey Bee. It is a subspecies of the European Honey Bee - but this one has learned how to cook pasta al dente. The flowers are from a Laurustinus.

I'm filing this under #texturetuesday because look at its cute fuzzy body covered in pollen!
