Eigentlich war die jüngste Version des Apple-Watch-Betriebssystems bereits fertig. Doch zusammen mit iOS 18.4 und macOS 15.4 erschien es dann doch nicht.
Wearables wie #Smartwatch oder #Fitnesstracker gehören inzwischen zum Alltag. Forschende des KIT haben nun die Open-Source-Plattform „OpenEarable“ entwickelt, die umfassendere Gesundheitsmessungen und Sicherheitsanwendungen in #Medizin, #Industrie und Alltag ermöglichen soll.
Die Forschenden stellen die Plattform aktuell noch bis 4. April auf der Hannover Messe vor.

Samsung starts working on the Galaxy Watch8 series
While a new update for all existing smartwatches is in the works, Samsung has recently started development of the One UI Watch software for the upcoming smartwatch series, which is a Galaxy Watch8 series, which will be unveiled in an upcoming Unpacked event this year. A tipster on X has mentioned that there were new smartwatches that were added to the firmware server, along with our addition of the SM-L500 model:
This is an interesting update, as we now know that there are three new smartwatches on the works, with two variants: Bluetooth variant and cellular variant. As more information about the new watches, as well as the beta program for the next One UI Watch that may start in the second half of this year, we’ll let you know.

Fans der besten Apple Watch mussten 2024 stark sein: Es gab nur eine neue Farbe, sonst nichts. Werden sie diesen Herbst mit der Ultra 3 entschädigt?
@RickJ #Videotelefonie via #Smartwatch wäre schon cool... aber ich bezweifle, dass sich das praktikabel umsetzen lässt.
Bei den #AirPods fällt es mir auch schwer, mir einen Usecase vorzustellen... für #Blinde und #Sehbehinderte wäre es vermutlich eine super Sache, sich die Umgebung auditiv beschreiben lassen zu können. Bis auf sehr bescheidene Akkulaufzeiten könnte da vielleicht sogar realisierbar sein, zumindest wenn die #KI auf dem Phone läuft.
Trotzdem sehe ich Akzeptanzprobleme wenn Menschen im Alltag mit (mutmaßlich nach vorne ausgerichteten) Kameras in den Ohren rumlaufen. Ich bin aber schon sehr gespannt, welches kreative Schimpfwort sich das Internet als #Apple-Äquivalent zu #Glasshole ausdenkt...
