A huge sigh of relief: I've finally managed to explain moss sex in a way that I hope is generally understandable. Not easy because there are only complicated technical terms for some stuff. Moss is generally neglected in all languages I know. So I have to find analogies ... We should have a moss sex cartoon.

A bright feathery and fern-like moss growing on a very tiny darker one. They are growing on a sandstone rock.

Zwischen viel Gras eine rote Lichtnelke mit eiförmigen grünen Blättern, die Blüten sind erst ganz wenig geöffnet, man kann die Farbe aber schon gut erkennen.

Auch interessant: die Spatzen haben im Winter angefangen den Mörtel aus Nachbars Wand zu picken. Da dachte ich, da ist sicher Kalk drin.
Daraufhin habe ich Sepia-Schalen bestellt und aufgehängt.
Diese wurde direkt von den Spatzen angenommen und innerhalb kürzester Zeit verbraucht.

Jetzt wo es wieder wärmer ist, haben sie komischerweise kein Interesse mehr daran.
Vielleicht weiß jemand, weshalb das so ist?

On a grey day without the much needed rain, with grey and dark news, when the world seems to be out of joint, it sometimes helps to remember the green of #nature.
And it helps me to prepare the next #NatureMatchCuts episode about moss! Have to write about the #culturalHeritage of mosses.

A cushion of bright yellowish green moss with star-like forms on a branch of an elderberry. A part of the branch is covered with yellowish spots, probably a lichen (but can be also algues).

Check out how this #waterfall changes across the seasons. I have hiked this trail in each season of the year and it is a different experience each time! Here are pics of the same waterfall in Nov (2024), Feb (2025), and April (2025). It is completely buried with snow/ice in the deepest part of winter in February. By April, it is part winter, part spring. #WaterfallWednesday #hiking

Das Bild zeigt eine ruhige, natürliche Landschaft mit einem großen, ruhigen See im Vordergrund. Der See spiegelt den blauen Himmel mit weißen Wolken und die umliegenden Bäume wider. Auf der rechten Seite des Bildes steht ein großer Baum mit einem dicken Stamm, der mit grüner Efeu bedeckt ist. Der Boden um den Baum herum ist mit kleinen weißen Blumen bedeckt, die im Frühling blühen. Im Hintergrund sind weitere Bäume zu sehen, die teilweise Blätter haben, was auf den Frühling hinweist. Ich bin ziemlich sicher, dass der Wiesenknopf (Pimpinelle) die Lage bewusst gewählt hat, weil sie genau wusste, wie gut sie hier zur Geltung kommt.

Auf weißlichem Schotter das fast kreisrund abgeordnete Grün der Pimpinelle mir ein paar rötlichen Blüten.

Hatte Hoffnung die ersten blühenden Orchideen zu fotografieren. Denen war's aber wohl einfach zu trocken in letzter Zeit. Schlüsselblumen gab's dagegen schon viele. Hier direkt bei Sonnenaufgang.
