DorineI love working with bokeh. The background plays the biggest role here. It is the small, fine leaf of the Jasminum nudiflorum (winter jasmine). This facade covering blooms in the Netherlands in the winter with small yellow flowers. Nice to combine with the evergreen Mahonia medea that also blooms yellow in the winter and gives large dark shiny leaves. DorineI was walking in my garden yesterday looking for something to photograph. At the moment the rhododendron "Cunningham's White" is starting to bloom. It is an early blooming rhododendron, in the Netherlands already at the end of April/beginning of May. And although several of the beautiful white flowers are already open, I was especially fascinated by the buds. They are pink, which is special, because the flower is white, but that strange way in which the petals are folded. It is a miracle that they do not come out wrinkled. Photographed so close, it even has something creepy. Something fleshy, like the inside of an ear or something. DorineFor <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/mondaymonochrome?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#mondaymonochrome</a> an Asphodelus ramosus in black and white. I took this photo in the south of Spain at the end of February this year. It is common there in the wild. Not in the Netherlands so I do not know the common name. The plant grows to about a meter high and the flowers are pink and white. I find this plant most beautiful when the flowers are still in bud. Certainly to photograph. That shape with the increasingly smaller buds, beautiful! DorineThis little orange poppy has blown into my garden by itself and has spread itself in a pleasant way over the past few years. I never find it too much. They are not yet in bloom but that will not last long. And as it is now, that slender and delicate, I also like to photograph that. DorineJust a fern from my garden, but what a tension there is in that not yet unrolled leaf. And soon, unrolled, it is just as beautiful. I love ferns with their architectural leaves. DorineThe purple flowers of the Bergenia purpurea in my garden at the moment. In my garden, the Bergenia with its large shiny leaves replaces the Hosta, which in my garden is usually eaten by snails after a month. Large leaves give a border peace, so in my garden the Bergenia does that. The snails leave them alone and they are also evergreen and have beautiful autumn colours. DorineThe dandelion (taraxacum officinale), here with its beautiful fluffy crown, so widespread, so common, but also so beautiful. Not always nice to have in your lawn or gravel path, but I always leave a few in the flower beds. Then just weed. And if you have the space, you can perhaps let them do their thing. They are edible, the leaves for salad and the flowers for tea.
