Except THIS is not how any of this works!....

#Trump literally lashing out against friends and neighbours will only backfire hard, and I expect @EUCommission and @europarl_en to enact #PrizeFreezes for #US #products & #services whilst forcing #Retaliatory #Tariffs on all US #products and espechally #services, demanding 100%+ in all #fees, and #revenue of #GAFAMs' services and products to the point that they'll effectively cancel half their revenue that flows back.

  • Plus forcing all products and services to be processed and sold via a #EU-based #corporation and adding a 30% "#AlienTax" as the #USA already does for i.e. #App #developers that ain't from the US even if they never sold a single license to a US customer.

Not to mention cancelling any #DataProtection agreements that only stalled the foreseeable court decision that #CloudAct is incompatible with #GDPR, thus banning #Office365 / #Microsoft365, #iCloud et. al. from the EU!

Given #Trump can't be assed to even fake any #loyality or #allied status even for the cameras, this is a #ForeseeableConsequence.

Unless we want to end up #downgraded into the state of a US-occupied overseas possession without statehood, like #Guam, #PuertoRico or #AVI...

ORG's report highlighted the challenges in enforcing how UK Political Parties use our data.

We raised concerns about the privacy and security of canvassing apps used by the Parties, and raised the question of whether voters’ data is being used unlawfully.

The Data Bill risks making the situation worse by granting Ministers powers to change the rules in a way that sidesteps Parliament.

Our briefing shows how Henry VIII powers in the UK Data Bill will allow Ministers to change the law without proper Parliamentary scrutiny.

This threatens electoral integrity when the Party in office could fiddle the rules over the use of voter data at a time of their choosing, giving them an advantage – for example to allow practices that the ruling Party was ready to deploy.

"NEW YORK—A lawsuit seeking to stop the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) from disclosing tens of millions of Americans’ private, sensitive information to Elon Musk’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) can continue, a federal judge ruled Thursday.

Judge Denise L. Cote of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York partially rejected the defendants’ motion to dismiss the lawsuit, which was filed Feb. 11 on behalf of two labor unions and individual current and former government workers across the country. This decision is a victory: The court agreed that the claims that OPM illegally disclosed highly personal records of millions of people to DOGE agents can move forward with the goal of stopping that ongoing disclosure and requiring that any shared information be returned.

Cote ruled current and former federal employees "may pursue their request for injunctive relief under the APA [Administrative Procedure Act]. ... The defendants’ Kafkaesque argument to the contrary would deprive the plaintiffs of any recourse under the law."

"The complaint plausibly alleges that actions by OPM were not representative of its ordinary day-to-day operations but were, in sharp contrast to its normal procedures, illegal, rushed, and dangerous,” the judge wrote."

In its judgment, the General Court of the European Union strengthened the conciliation and regulatory powers of the European Data Protection Board.

"The DPC will have to continue its investigations into Meta unless it chooses to refer the matter to the European Court of Justice. Given the timeline of the original investigation, which began in 2018, it may still take several years before a final determination is made regarding the GDPR compliance of Meta’s business model, particularly in relation to behavioural advertising."

TikTok faces a €500m fine over EU data illegally sent to China.

TikTok’s parent company ByteDance is reportedly set to be hit with a fine of over €500 million for illegally shipping European user data to China.

The fine could be one of the largest handed down by Ireland’s Data Protection Commission, TikTok’s main European regulator.

Danke.

🇬🇧 Dear Community, may I ask you not to use URL shorteners that point to data-grabbing commercial websites like YouTube/Google, FB/Insta, Twitter, TikTok etc.?

Simply accessing such websites leads to data mining.

Thank you.

Sweden just isn't what it used to be...

"In most countries, the government knows when you were born, your social security number, where you live, how much you earn and how much your house is worth. Sweden is a bit different though. There, the tax authority doesn’t just use this information for administrative purposes – but sells it to data brokers who publish it online. This is a violation of EU law. Earlier this year, a Swedish data subject asked the country’s tax authority to stop selling his data. The country’s Supreme Court has recently ruled that freedom of information and privacy rights must be balanced and data must be marked as confidential, if the recipient is likely to process it in conflict with the GDPR. The tax authority rejected the request, claiming it simply follows the Swedish constitutional principle of transparency rather than the ruling by the Supreme Court. noyb now takes the authority to court."
