Luke DruryMy personal experience is just the opposite. Admittedly I rarely use Word, but when I do I have terrible problems with the way it changes formats for no obvious reason. At least LaTeX allows transparent and precise control of layout. For complicated text with a lot of mathematical formulae LaTeX (or one of the other TeX packages) wins hands down for me.
