After yesterday’s Mini-based Midas coupé, today we’re looking at its open-topped sister car, the Midas Gold convertible. This one was apparently purchased as a kit back in the day by its original owner but never quite finished. An opportunity for someone! Later Midas models were adapted to take Metro, rather than Mini parts. Note the Ascona/Cavalier rear lights. Snapped at the recent Practical Classics resto show. Bonus view of the coupé in pic 3.
Roger the Rabbit pickup update: engine rebuild is coming along nicely. Got a box of parts from Heritage in the UK and one from Rock Auto in the US.
Great to see the new Morgan Supersport in the metal. I now get the slightly steam-punk aesthetic and would spec mine accordingly. I still struggle a little with the droopy line across the bottom of the hardtop though.

A few days ago, I explained how Innocenti rebodied the Mini in 1974 to give it a modern look and a practical hatchback. Meanwhile, back in Britain, the thriving domestic kit car industry liked to give the Mini new sets of clothes too. Meet the Midas Mk2 coupé, a later evolution of the respected GRP/composite bodied Mini Marcos line that dated back to the sixties. I saw this one at the recent Practical Classics resto show at the NEC.
