Great article. However, I've always felt that there have always been a contingent of begrudgers in Ireland - who, never having travelled further than their front door, were parochial, narrow-minded and bigoted. The fact that this racism is nothing still means, though, that it needs to be tackled head-on and given the slap up the beak it so richly deserves.
