Hunting the comet #NEOWISE
Hunting the NEOWISE 2020 comet, finally got a clear view on the sea shore, away from the light pollution. I had to modify/squeeze the original panorama in order to make it suitable for Instagram. Enjoy the view, the tail of the comet is impressive when the skies are dark. Technical: different processing methods used for different parts of the panorama (stars, comet, lighthouse, foreground).

Engineers on NASA’s #NEOWISE (Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer) mission have commanded the spacecraft to turn its transmitter off for the last time Thursday: nasa.gov/news-release/nasa-mis - this concludes more than 10 years of its planetary defense mission to search for asteroids and comets, including those that could pose a threat to Earth. A memory from July 16th, 2020 - Comet Neowise on the NW sky. We could see it over a few consecutive nights about 2 hours after sunset..

Just started out learning photography around that time, didn’t have an editing software, other than my phone, so it’s noisy…
Blended image, taken from the same spot (my balcony) few seconds apart at 560mm and brought them a little bit closer to each other to fit the frame…

After more than 14 successful years in space, NASA’s #NEOWISE (Near-Earth Object Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer) mission will end on July 31: jpl.nasa.gov/news/nasas-neowis - while the mission draws to a close, another is taking shape, harnessing experience gained from NEOWISE, NASA’s NEO Surveyor (Near Earth Object Surveyor), the first purpose-built infrared space telescope dedicated to hunting hazardous near-Earth objects.
