Publications Office of the EUMarie Skłodowska-Curie actions green charter - Publications Office of the EUThe MSCA Green Charter constitutes a code of good practice for all recipients of Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) funding – individuals as well as institutions – aiming at promoting the mainstreaming of environmental considerations in all aspects of project implementation. The present document is a revised version of the MSCA Green Charter Guidance Material: it aims to complement the MSCA Green Charter by providing updated guidelines, examples of good practices and other resources for the development of greener policies and practices in research and project management. To elaborate this document, the European Commission has been largely relying on input from experts on greening and sustainability in higher education institutions and systems. The Guidelines and Examples of Good Practices relating to the MSCA Green Charter are provided for information purposes only, and the European Commission (or any person acting on its behalf) cannot be held responsible for the uses made of them.

I’ve recently started my #MSCA project for my postdoctoral research on #RomaniChords. One of the primary goals of this fantastic funding scheme is that junior scholars can decide how they spend some of their research allowances.

Having this privileged position, I decided to try my best to implement my MSCA project as #GreenMSCA (i.e. as green as possible) – especially regarding sustainable academic travelling.

Several PhD students and supervisors from the #ModConflex #EUhorizon #MSCA project met at the Spring School on Theory and Applications of Port-Hamiltonian Systems (PHS2025) last week.

The PhD students presented and discussed posters of their work. The supervisors presented, too, and the project coordinator was also involved in the organisation.

but is very confused with the contract the university proposed (as in: pre-tax salary quite a bit smaller than expected).

Any suggestions as to where to find info about salary breakdown in Spanish universities?

ModConFlex' first researchers started around August 2023. Our presently 13 #MSCA researchers are coming from fields of #engineering, #physics and/or #mathematics. They are hosted by eight different #universities for their PhD and meet at least once a year at our annual network and training events.

Their research focuses on a range of topics from #ArtificialIntelligence over #ControlTheory (applied to floating #WindTurbines or, more theoretical, port Hamiltonian systems) to #FlexibleAircraft.

Mathematical Control and Related FieldsLQR control for a system describing the interaction between a floating solid and the surrounding fluidThis paper studies an infinite time horizon LQR optimal control problem for a system describing, within a linear approximation, the vertical oscillations of a floating solid, coupled with the motion of the free boundary fluid on which it floats. The fluid flow is described by a viscous version of the linearized Saint-Venant equations (shallow water regime). The major difficulty we face is that the domain occupied by the fluid is unbounded so that the system is not exponentially stable. This raises challenges in proving the wellposedness, requiring the combined use of analytic semigroup theory and an interpolation technique. The main contribution of this paper is that, in spite of the lack of exponential stabilizability, we could define a wellposed LQR problem for which a Riccati-based approach to design feedback controls can be implemented.
