It's shame I missed the chance there. I'd like someone to ask #Bluesky why they're started with such a restricted form or #federation.
The reason that really matters is this. For all practical purposes it will be impossible for smaller servers to ever digress significantly from the main one.
For example here on #Mastodon, moderation policies vary considerably. That will never really be possible with #bs because bigger names will control the space by forging business ties with the directors.
So for all practical purposes Bluesky will never really be decentralised. That's a shame because I'm not against the network in principle.

Am 14. April ist die Mastodon Instanz bewegung.social havariert und gecrasht. Das Resultat war, dass sämtliche Daten dieser Instanz verloren waren.

LesbenRing e.V. hat sich gestern an mich gewandt, weil sie erst gestern bemerkt hatten, dass ihr Account plötzlich ncht mehr da war. Sie haben einen neuen Account bei uns auf https://lsbt.me angelegt und mich dann gebeten, da mal nach zu haken, was mit dem alten Account auf bewegung.social passiert ist.
Seit dem arbeiten wir daran, den Account wiederherzustellen, was uns nun auch gelungen ist. Der alte Account auf bewegung.social wurde neu angelegt, was durch die Server Föderation des Fediverse dazu geführt hat, dass viele der Follower automatisch diesem Account wieder gefolgt sind.
Heute werden wir dafür sorgen, dass diese Follower mit auf den neuen Account auf @lesbenring umgezogen werden.
Ein Hinweis an meine User*innen auf https://lsbt.me
Bei uns auf lsbt.me laufen mehrmals täglich Backuproutinen. Es werden alle Assets (hochgeladene Medien), alle Accounts mit ihren Followern, alle Tröts und Beiträge und die Postgres-Datenbank mehrmals täglich gesichert und auf einem anderen Server gespeichert. So ist sicher gestellt, dass wir hier bei solch einer Havarie wie bewegung.social sie am 14. April erlebt hat, im schlechtesten Fall maximal die letzten 24 Stunden an Daten verlieren.
Ihr könnt also sicher sein, dass ich alles dafür getan habe und auch weiterhin tue, dass uns so etwas hier auf https://lsbt.me nicht passiert.
Randnotiz: Solch eine Backupstrategie braucht viel Speicher und viele Resourcen, die teuer sind und von mir aus meiner eigenen Tasche bezahlt werden.
